At Home With Alberto

Alberto is a new young friend for 14 year old Charlie......

Dear Janis,
Further to our phone call this morning, we have had a look at your website - what a lovely easy site to look at, with loads of information. It will be great when all the photos are up and running. I will certainly join in your newsletter when you get it going and will send photos so you can see how the boys are progressing.
I have chosen 3 lovely photos of my Charlie and Harry (who is no longer with us) + Toby who belongs to my friend, Wendy. As they are on Wendy's PC, she is going to send them straight to you. I do hope I will be able to have a new little boy from you, although I do understand that your present litter may be spoken for.
Our lads are our life - they are part of the family, not show dogs, and we would not be without them.
Best Wishes to you.

Hello Janis,
Thank you so much for keeping me up to date with the situation. Toby, doggy of Wendy (next door neighbour) had his first "Great Run" this morning after his cruciate ligament operation and Charlie was delighted to see him approaching. They had a lovely time together until Wendy thought that Toby shouldn't do too much.
Charlie has to have his teeth seen to soon, his heart is good so I am keeping my fingers crossed. What a worry this has been, but our Vet is so good that I know that he will be in safe hands. Charlie was 14 yesterday!
Best Wishes,
Gaynor

Hello Janis,
I do appreciate your very kind words.
How did you get on with the folks yesterday? Is there a chance for me. Charlie is very, very quiet today. If not, when is yours or Chris's next litter next due. You both sound so caring, so it would be great to have a puppy from either of you.
Best Wishes
Gaynor

Hello Janis,
Having spoken to your "other half ?" and promised to E Mail you straight away, I was caught on a very long 'phone call from somebody elderly who lives in the Block and she wanted to chat.
How is our Bertie ? There are so many things that I should be asking you but perhaps, you would like to ask me ?
My only two questions would be ...when could he come and how much is he? Many other items come to mind, eg. playpen, toys, etc.
Hope all is well with you.
Gaynor

Hello Janis,
Do I want him ? YES PLEASE ! He looks gorgeous. Many thanks for the photos.

Gaynor ...... and Charlie. X

Hello Janis,
Thanks so much for sending the photos; at the moment I have received pictures of Alberto, Lorenzo, Giovani & Sofia. Perhaps the others are to follow.
We must discuss when you are able to let me have Alberto; any day would suit me except for the 28th June when a neighbour is having a small 50th"do" and I will be giving her a hand. I want to give all my attention to "The New Boy" and, of course, I must love Charlie a lot, too. Charlie is having his teeth done tomorrow and a few warts removed, so I am on tenterhooks.
Why DO we worry so much over our doggies?
Gaynor

Charlie

Hello Janis
Thank you so much for bringing me up to date with everything ....... I just can't wait !!! Alberto's Mum & Dad look super.
Charlie's teeth cleaning and wart removals have had to be cancelled today because he was sick on the Golf Course this morning. I think that he is missing Harry so much, but I know that you and I are doing our best to get him a little mate; he is a Darling and on the walk this morning a lovely 6 month old puppy came up to him to play, but Mr. C. was not interested.
A neighbour of mine has suggested that I give him a white TOY puppy to help him, but Charlie is not daft !!!!
Hopefully, we will be able to settle on a date for Alberto to come here. All the dog walkers (although missing Harry so much) are so much involved and like me, can't wait.
It's quite warm in Bournemouth today.

Hello Janis,
I am "worried from Bournemouth" at the moment as Charlie is having his teeth and warts done on Thursday.
However, how is the Lad doing? I am taking the photos around the Golf Course on a daily basis and everyone is admiring him.
I have bought a white fleecy set of steps so that he doesn't hurt his little legs if he jumps; it was intended to help Harry but he couldn't get the hang of it.
I believe that Charlie is getting used to being on his own for the first time in his life, but I know that he would like a Mate to play with, as he ran like the wind this morning to find a pal!
Hope you are well.
Kindest Regards,
Gaynor.

Harry

Hello Janis,
Thank you so much for the "Get Well" card for Charlie; he seems to be O.K. today, so far; he had an injection of Clamoxyl yesterday and today has had his breakfast.
The Vet. blames the heat and I must admit that it is getting hotter by the minute! When it is cooler, the Doggies run around so much better and seem to be happier. I have to admit that I move quicker when it is cooler.
Hope to meet you before long with my new "Baby" ..... my word, the whole Block of Flats is waiting + the Dog Walkers, although I will never forget Harry, who followed me everywhere. Now I can't see the key board for the tears. ...... Bother.
My Vet has a puppy club and someone is going to contact me, soon. It could be fun and Charlie will be able to stay with my neighbour with Bolognese Toby, while I am out training.
I remember that Charlie and Harry were SO good in their Classes but when they came home, there was a bit of a change !! I say no more !!

Janis,
I wrote to Chris today.

Hello Chris,
I thought that I must write to thank you for introducing me to Janis.
With all the arrangements being made, you have been lost in "The Bermuda Triangle", but without you, I wouldn't have had the contact with Janis. Thank you.
You probably know that the new puppy is being registered as "Alberto", so that I can call him "Bertie" (Family name).
I have photos of Bertie at 2 weeks and 4 weeks and he looks gorgeous. Everyone is asking me when he is coming. Charlie is very quiet at the moment and has to have his teeth cleaned next week + a few warts taken off. I do hope that he will be all right. but the Vet. assures me that his heart is O.K.

Many thanks again.
Gaynor.

Hello Janis,
Wendy doesn't work on Saturdays or Sundays so she will be able to come up this Saturday (the 21st). Apart from her working 4 hours on weekday mornings, she is with my dogs for most of the time which is good. Our two balconies abut, and the doggies run through to meet each other. Hope that Saturday will be O.K.
We have route planners for both Oxford and Thompson, so Thompson it will have to be now; Wendy will leave about 6am. and I believe that the journey is just over 4 hours; on the way back, she will stop every hour for "Convenience Stops". She has a Mini Clubman and the back seats go down, so his new golden cage + fleece will fit in nicely. Wendy has bought Bertie a new red heart shaped dice with all his details on, as required by Law and I will be buying a new collar and lead soon, if you tell me roughly what Bertie's neck measurement is.
I have to buy a little carrying bag for him to come Walkies, then I will arrange a time and place for all my Dog Walker friends to be in one place to meet THE Lad ! Even the Paper Lady asked when he was coming this morning!! Hope that France is/was good.
Best Wishes
Gaynor.

Hello Janis,
Many thanks for your E Mail; I WILL 'phone tonight but thought that you would like to know how the little boy is.
We had a great night and Bertie slept all the way through in his cage but with the door open; he had 2 wees and 2 poos when he woke up and three times it was on the pads, so he is a very, very good little lad.
Wendy and I took him in a little bag over the Golf Course and we met quite a few folk who thought he was marvelous; everyone wants a puppy again, now !!!!!
At the moment, Charlie and Toby are lying on my bed and Bertie has decided to have a nap in his cage. I expect that when I finish E Mailing, they will all follow me.
I think that I am multi tasking this morning!!
Wendy thought that you were a great couple. Many thanks for the lovely instruction brochure + the 6 weeks insurance: I had the confirmation this morning. I will ring tonight, as promised.

Best Wishes
Gaynor.

My first walk

Hello Janis,
Wendy had her little Birthday "do" yesterday and Bertie behaved impeccably sitting in his cage with the door open; he was greatly admired and didn't bark at anyone.
However, he did bark last night and again this morning; any tips? I don't think that Charlie and Harry barked much as they had each other to play with, but that was 14 years' ago, so I am a bit rusty.
Bertie is doing everything on the pads, so that is good news.
His second vaccination will be in two weeks, but he doesn't seem to worry too much about them.

Hope that you are both well.

Charlie and me taking the air

Hello Janis,
I hope that you and John have a great holiday; I am forwarding some photos of Charlie and Bertie together in the armchair, plus one that was taken at Wendy's "do" on Saturday showing her niece Emily holding Bertie + her old school friend, Rachel, on the right. Wendy with Toby + Moi with Charlie and Harry (Xmas 2006). I believe that we were opening our Presees on Christmas Day in my spare room ......all the wrapping paper that the doggie like must have been hidden for the photo !!!!!!!

Best Wishes,
Gaynor.

Toby

Don't I look smart now

Hello Janis,
Bertie is settling in quite beautifully and has worn his collar from day 1; he is not too sure about a lead yet but I will put his new one on for him to walk around the Flat, so that he will get used to it.
His second injection is next Friday, then it will be another week before he is allowed to put paw to ground !!
I reckon that all of the Golf Course folk have seen and admired him and have even called at Baronsmede to "view" the new arrival
He loves to play with old toilet rolls but sometimes plays with his new toys. He is eating well and in addition to his puppy food, has chicken, rice and a small amount of egg.
He is good at night and cuddles down on the bed (probably a wrong move, but Charlie is up there, so fair's fair !!) He sits on the back seat of the car with Charlie and Toby but I don't go far ...only in my "Comfort zone".

Best Wishes,
Gaynor.

Hello "Thompson",
Bertie is still as adorable as ever. He had his second injection yesterday + Advocate, so ...... he had a little diarrhea in the night; he seems O.K. this morning. He will be able to have a Golf Course walk in a week's time.
I have bought him a little red harness as he doesn't like his neck to be pulled while he is so small.
We went to a Puppy Party on Thursday and were given a C.D. that plays the noises of thunder, fireworks, etc. You play it very low to start with, then "up it" when necessary. Charlie and Harry are/were never bothered by noises, but I will check Bertie out very carefully.
Wendy has her Hospital Fete this afternoon and we are running The Cuddly Toy Stall as usual. I hope that they don't think that Bertie is a prize!! He will be in his golden cage and we are taking his training pads so that he can do the necessary. There is quite a lot of stuff going up for Bertie and the other two - water bowls, umbrellas ,rug, We may be able to run the stall from time to time!!
Hope that you are well,
Kindest Regards

Gaynor.

See mum I remember how to stand nicely

I've just had a bath

We smell nice don't we

Hello Janis,
Bertie went off the lead this morning for the first time and was such a good lad; he kept with the others and ran them ragged.
He played and rolled so much that he had to go in the bath when he came home; he, also, had his eyes done, so now he is drying out! He loves to lie under the bed although there are two doggy beds lined with fleece and where he keeps his toys! These comprise a yellow teddy, a red and yellow duck, a little girl rag doll and a blue tugger rabbit + toilet rolls (one on a string), Bounty rolls, Oil of Primrose container & lid and an Andrex wet wipe wrapper. He plays with them all.
I have just received the Kennel Club confirmation and I see that on one form they leave a space for you to put the name of the Kennels when you go on holiday. Kennels ?!!!? I would never leave a dog of mine in a Kennel, whatever the reputation. Bolognese just can't be left, I feel. Living in Bournemouth is a dream and I don't feel the need to traipse through airports any more. Every day should be a holiday.
We went to Puppy training last evening, but the other 3 puppies there were ahead of dear old Bert, so he dug his heels in, but as there was a wooden floor, he went round like a mop and cleaned their floor !
I found that training him on the Golf Course this morning (with dear old Wendy) was so much better; I remember all the commands from 14 years' ago. Maybe, I will get a one to one person to come out with me, as I recall that both Charlie and Harry were marvelous in Class, but changed into fluffy bundles of naughtiness when let free in the open air. I will see how things go.
Glad that the parcel arrived safely.
Best Wishes

Hello Janis,
Here are three pictures of the Lads.
Toby, Charlie & Bertie in the first & second ones and Charlie & Bertie in the third one. Bertie has grown enormously, cocked his leg on the Golf Course for the first time yesterday!! Hope that you are both well.
Best wishes from
Gaynor.

Hello Janis,
Yes, he stood beautifully for his wee!
Tonight, I am going over the Golf Course with a highly recommended Trainer for a One to One training session. Bertie socializes very well and is SO intelligent. I can't believe that I have had him for only 5 weeks. I think that he will look like Harry, which will be lovely although I am glad that I called him by another name. He is eating, playing and running very well; he is like a greyhound. He likes the BIG Dogs and is fearless. It's warm but a bit cloudy in Bournemouth today.
Best Wishes (& kisses from Bertie)
Gaynor

That's me and my walking buddies

Is that a treat I see Charlie

Hello Janis,
I am sending some photos of Bertie that Wendy took in her Flat, after his first shampoo;
Hope that all is well with you in Thompson.

Best Wishes,
Gaynor.
